Using Claude & ChatGPT Inside Zoho CRM: The Multi-LLM Zia Update Explained

For most of its life, Zoho's built-in AI, Zia, was a single assistant doing a fixed set of things. In 2026 that changed. Zia is now multi-LLM: you can run Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini inside Zoho CRM, choose which model handles which task, and even drop an AI agent onto your CRM homepage that flags the deals worth your attention. Here's what actually changed, and what it means if you run Zoho.

Zia is no longer one model
The headline change: Zoho CRM's Record Assistant now supports multiple large language models at once. An admin can keep several configured and active, and users switch between them from a dropdown inside the assistant. The old limitation, where custom prompt buttons only ran on Zoho's own hosted model, is gone. Now the Execute Prompt button works with whichever model you've set up. In the interface, Zoho renamed the old Smart Prompt feature to Models.
Why does this matter? Because different models are genuinely better at different things. One might write a better follow-up email; another might reason better over messy data. Being able to pick the right model per task, inside your CRM, is a real step up from one-size-fits-all AI.

The new AI homepage agent
The other notable addition: an AI agent component you can place directly on your CRM homepage. Instead of only showing what you told it to show, like a saved filter, the agent uses contextual reasoning to surface records worth checking, stalled deals that need a nudge, accounts going quiet, follow-ups that slipped. Your team opens the CRM and sees what matters, rather than spending the first hour of the day figuring that out.

What this means for your business
Two honest observations from implementing Zoho for over a decade:
First, the value of multi-LLM Zia is entirely in the configuration. Pointing Zia at Claude or GPT is a setting; designing which model runs on which task, wiring the API keys, and building prompts that actually help your team, that's the work. Done well, it's a genuine productivity gain. Done carelessly, it's an expensive gimmick.
Second, AI inside your CRM is only as good as the data and permissions around it. An AI agent that can see the wrong records, or act beyond its remit, is a risk, not a feature. The setup, roles, and guardrails matter as much as the AI itself.
This is exactly the kind of work we do as a Zoho Premium Partner, and it's closely tied to our broader AI automation and AI agent services. We help you decide which models fit your workflows, configure them safely, and make sure the AI is wired into your real business processes.
