Zoho Creator Databridge: Connect Custom Apps to Your Private Database Securely

Zoho Creator is where a lot of the interesting custom work happens, building the apps that off-the-shelf Zoho can't. But one question has always come up with larger and regulated clients: what if our data can't live in the cloud app, and has to stay in our own database? Creator's Databridge is Zoho's answer, and it's a genuinely useful one.

What Databridge does

What Databridge does

Databridge lets a Zoho Creator application read from and write to a privately hosted database, without exposing your internal infrastructure to the public internet. In other words, your Creator app can work with data that never leaves your own database server. The app runs in Creator; the sensitive data stays where your rules require it to stay.

For most businesses, keeping data in Creator's own cloud storage is perfectly fine. But for organisations with strict data-governance requirements, industries where certain records legally cannot sit in a third-party cloud, Databridge is the bridge that makes a Creator app viable where it wouldn't have been before.

Why this matters for regulated businesses

Why this matters for regulated businesses

This lands squarely with the same audience we work with on data residency and compliance, insurance, healthcare, finance, and government. These businesses often want the speed and flexibility of a custom Creator app, but they're bound by rules about where specific data can be stored.

Databridge lets you have both: a modern, custom-built application experience, with the sensitive data kept in a private database under your own control. That's a combination that used to force a hard choice, and no longer does.

It's closely related to the data-governance thinking behind our Zoho data center migration work, both are about giving regulated businesses the Zoho capabilities they want while respecting where their data has to live.

What we build with Creator

What we build with Creator

We use Zoho Creator to build the custom applications businesses need beyond standard Zoho, from operations tools to client and partner portals. A good example is the broker portal we build for property developers, a dedicated Creator application where brokers access inventory, schedule visits, and track commissions. Databridge extends what's possible here, letting these custom apps work securely with private data sources when a client's governance requires it.

If you're weighing a custom Zoho Creator app and data security or residency is a concern, this is exactly the kind of problem we solve. See our real estate developer CRM work for one example of custom Creator portals in practice, or talk to us about your specific requirements.
