Setting up Zoho Mail in Outlook

If you use Zoho Mail for business email but prefer working in Microsoft Outlook, you can connect the two using Zoho's IMAP and SMTP settings. This guide walks through the setup step by step, plus the settings you'll need and fixes for the errors people hit most often.
Note: Zoho occasionally updates its server settings and security requirements. If anything below doesn't match what you see, check Zoho Mail's current IMAP/SMTP documentation for the latest values.
Before you start
Two things to sort out first. Enable IMAP in Zoho Mail: log in to Zoho Mail on the web, go to Settings > Mail Accounts, and make sure IMAP access is enabled. And check whether you need an app-specific password: if your Zoho account has two-factor authentication on (recommended), you'll usually need to generate an app-specific password rather than using your normal login password, found in your Zoho account security settings.
Zoho Mail IMAP settings (incoming)
Incoming Server (IMAP): imappro.zoho.com for business/organization accounts (domain hosted with Zoho), or imap.zoho.com for personal @zoho.com accounts. Port: 993. Encryption: SSL. Username: your full Zoho email address. Password: your Zoho password or app-specific password. Note that Zoho uses region-specific servers — e.g. imap.zoho.eu or imap.zoho.in — so if you signed up in a specific region, use that server address instead.
Zoho Mail SMTP settings (outgoing)
Outgoing Server (SMTP): smtppro.zoho.com for business/organization accounts, or smtp.zoho.com for personal @zoho.com accounts. Port: 465 (SSL) or 587 (TLS). Encryption: SSL/TLS. Authentication: required, using the same username and password as above.
Step-by-step: adding Zoho Mail to Outlook
Open Outlook and go to File > Add Account.
Enter your Zoho email address and choose the option to set it up manually (advanced setup).
Select IMAP as the account type.
Enter the incoming (IMAP) settings from above.
Enter the outgoing (SMTP) settings from above.
Enter your password (or app-specific password) when prompted.
Let Outlook test the connection, then finish. Your Zoho Mail should begin syncing.
Common problems and fixes
Login failed or password rejected: almost always the two-factor issue — generate an app-specific password in Zoho and use that instead of your normal password.
Outlook can't connect to the server: double-check you're using the right regional server (zoho.com vs zoho.eu vs zoho.in) and that IMAP is enabled in your Zoho Mail settings.
Mail sends but doesn't receive (or vice versa): usually one server setting is off — re-check the IMAP port (993/SSL) for receiving and SMTP port (465 or 587) for sending.
Wrong port or encryption: IMAP should be 993 with SSL; SMTP should be 465 (SSL) or 587 (TLS). Mismatched encryption is a frequent cause of failed connections.
Need help with Zoho Mail or migration?
